We are all like sheep that need a shepherd, Jesus said. There are five brothers in our body that work as shepherds. They lead us in a direction to be fed by God. They are chosen from among us because of the qualities that God has produced in them. They lead because we need a shepherd. Their example for leadership is the Good Shepherd, our Lord Jesus Christ. They are called to lay down their lives for their sheep in service.
God has set up our leadership this way because we need to have holy examples living among us. Their job is not easy, but with their reliance on the one who called them, they lead with His love in their hearts.
